CONTEXT

Administrative and biographical history: William Austin Weale was born on 11 August 1912, and was brought up at Holly Bush Farm in Howey (in the parish of Diserth). It appears, from the diaries and notebooks in this collection, that Mr Weale, attended the University of Wales College, Aberystwyth, to study geography and geology. He then took a teaching qualification, carrying out teaching practice in various schools in Aberystwyth. In 1940, he was teaching at Tarleton Central Council School, near Preston in Lancashire. In that year his father died, and Mr Weale returned to run Holly Bush Farm.
