Name of creator(s): Davies, Arthur Stanley Jehu
Administrative and biographical history: Arthur Stanley Jehu Davies was born in 1889, and educated at Welshpool County School. He was a member of the Powysland Club, serving as Assistant Secretary in the 1920s, and contributing articles to the Montgomeryshire Collections on subjects such as the River Trade and Craft of the Severn and the Charcoal Industry of Powys-land. In later years, he lived in Buckinghamshire and published several pamphlets relating to Celtic Studies. He died c. 1950.
Scope and content: A large scrap book of newspaper cuttings and original documents, entitled 'The Development of Electricity in North Wales 1927-1936', which includes: Memoranda and Articles of Association for the Caersws Supply Co Ltd and E O Jones and Sons Ltd; records of the Llanfair Caereinion Electric Society Ltd; quotation re a hydro electric plant at Leighton Bridge Welshpool; a poster for the inauguration of the electricity supply to Welshpool in 1927; draft agreement for the supply of electricity in bulk to Messrs E O Jones and Sons Ltd, Severn Road Sawmills, Welshpool; newspaper reports re electricity supply to Machynlleth; programme of the opening of the Maentwrog Power House.
