CONTEXT

Administrative and biographical history: David Jones was born in Machynlleth. He was called up in 1914, to the 7th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. After training in England, he took part in the Gallipoli landings. He was injured and taken to the military hospital in Alexandria. After light work in the Sunderland shipyards, he joined the Royal Engineers, and spent the rest of the war in France. Mr Anderson is the Great Nephew of David Jones.

CONTENT

Scope and content: A memoir, starting in August 1914, of David Jones' life in the first few months of the First World War. A biography of David Jones, compiled by Neil Anderson, including photocopies of 3 photographs (c.1900-1916).
