Administrative and biographical history: The Welsh Intermediate Education Act 1889 established county joint education committees, which created county schools (later grammar schools) to provide intermediate (or secondary) education. Llanidloes High School was opened in 1953 to succeed the Grammar School, and was designed by a Mr Carrs, Architect. The school formed part of a campus alongside the Primary Schools. The Secondary School in Llanidloes was on Trefeglwys Road.
