Administrative and biographical history: The Methodist Church was established by John Wesley (1703-1790) who preached in Wales between 1739 and 1790. In Wales the movement was known as Wesleyanism or Wesleyan Methodism to distinguish it from the Calvinistic Methodists. Individual chapels linked to form Circuits, grouped into Districts.
Scope and content: Rules, plans and printed material relating to the Llanfyllin, Llanidloes and Llanrhaeadr Circuits, Montgomeryshire, 1846-1936; posters, 1927, 1947; agenda and reports of The Methodist Church Welsh Assembly, Machynlleth, 1949; notes on the Rev. John Bowen Griffiths (1865-1932) of Pen-y-bont Fawr, Montgomeryshire.
