Administrative and biographical history: The Green (or Green House), Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire, was owned by the Price family. Thomas Marsh Price (-1848) of the Green married Anne, daughter of William and Elizabeth Howell. Their six children included Anne Howell Price (d. 1882) and Martha Jane Price. Anne married the Rev. John Meredith of Wroxeter, Shropshire, in 1835 and their children included Anne Howell Price Meredith (later Warren) and Alfred William Howell Meredith (d. [c. 1883]) of Wroxeter and later the Green. Martha Jane Price married Ellis Jones, surgeon, in 1847. She was widowed by 1862 but later remarried. The family used the services of William Powell Price, solicitor, of the Bulwark, Brecon.
Scope and content: Deeds and papers of the Green Estate, Llanidloes, 1702-1925, comprising deeds, copy wills and other records relating to properties in Llanidloes, Llangurig and Trefeglwys, Montgomeryshire, and Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan and Llanafan Fawr, Brecknockshire, 1702-1886; map of the Brecknockshire property of the Green Estate, [19th century]; mixed letters, accounts, legal copies and drafts, 1819-1925, including miscellaneous letters, mainly to W. Powell Price, 1864-1902, various legal papers concerning disputes in Chancery and the Probate Division relating to the administration of the personal estates of Anne Price and A. W. H. Meredith, 1863-1892, various bills and receipts, 1880-1906, miscellaneous accounts, 1882-1896, and accounts of the Green estate, 1864-1891, certificates of burial and marriage of the Price family, 1835-1848, correspondence, plans and sale particulars relating to the sale of parts of the Green estate, 1895, 1900, and rentals, 1884-1896.
