Administrative and biographical history: The Hamer family were resident in Newtown, Montgomeryshire. David Hamer (fl. 1904-1949) was interested in the history of Montgomeryshire and researched the lives of various locals including the Puritan preacher Henry Williams (1624-1684) of Ysgafell, Llanllwchaearn. Hamer was chairman of Newtown Gardener's Association and was active in local politics.
