Administrative and biographical history: Harry Jones (1840-1936) was a gold miner and Canadian MP. Born in Caernarfonshire, he emigrated to the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada, where gold had been discovered in 1858. He represented the Cariboo district in the Canadian parliament as a Liberal, 1903-.
Scope and content: Xerox copies, [mid 20th century], of letters from Harry Jones (1886-1935) and from his nephew, Bob (1915, 1920); diary of Captain John Evans (1862-1865); cargo book of the New Blessing (1822-1824); items relating to Garreg Wen, Porthmadog, Caernarfonshire (1852-1896); and articles about Jones, Captain John Evans and the Welsh Company of Adventurers (1862).
