Administrative and biographical history: Caradog Jones (fl. 1915-1978) of Mynytho, Llanengan, Caernarfonshire, was Secretary of the Lleyn Branch of the Workers' Educational Association (WEA), [c. 1931]- [c. 1973]. He lectured and researched various subjects including:education, agriculture, religion, genealogy, trade and industry and local history. He was awarded an MA in 1952. He was a Local Councillor and was Clerk to the South Caernarvonshire Parish Councils Association. He became a Justice of the Peace in 1954. In 1947, the Survey Council for Rural Wales conducted a social survey of the Lleyn Peninsula, for which Jones was the Local Committee Secretary.
Scope and content: Papers of Caradog Jones of Mynytho, Llanengan, Caernarfonshire, 1708-1979, including papers relating to the 1947 Lleyn Survey, 1945-1952, 1970, including minutes and files relating to individual districts; papers relating to the North Wales District of the Workers' Educational Association, including minutes and annual reports, 1925-1977, to the Lleyn branch of the WEA, including correspondence and circulars, 1918-1974, and to the WEA generally, 1932-1972; other papers relating to adult education, 1932-1974; lecture and research notes of Caradog Jones, 1915-; personal papers, 1895-1973, including correspondence and papers relating to his work as Local Councillor etc; newspaper cuttings on various subjects relating to Wales, 1935-1975; programmes, 1926-1975; reports, 1937-1973; items relating to various local eisteddfodau, 1919-1977; school magazines and other items, 1890-1966; items relating to local chapels, 1874-1979; printed material, including ballad sheets and almanacs, 1824-1970; maps and plans relating to Caernarfonshire, including Ordnance Survey maps, 1708-[post 1931]; and photographs, mainly of the Mynytho area, [20th century].
