Administrative and biographical history: Tabernacl Welsh Independent Church, Gowerton, Glamorgan, was established in 1884. Its ministers included the Rev. J. Abel, 1928-1950, the Rev. D. Stanley Jones, 1953-1971, and the Rev. Meirion Morris from 1975. In 1979 Tabernacl joined with Bethel, Sketty, under the ministry of the Rev. Huw Ethall. The Chapel secretary during most of this period was Dr Ifor Davies (1910-1982), MP for Gower.
