CONTEXT

Administrative and biographical history: In 1873 76 members of Bethesda Chapel, High Street, Swansea, formed a separate church in the lower part of the town. They first met in the Albert Hall, Swansea, and the first building in Walter Road was opened in 1875. The first minister of the church was the Rev. F. C. White. In 1877 47 members left to form the Welsh Baptist Church, now Capel Gomer. The Walter Road church was demolished in 1992.
