Administrative and biographical history: Registers of parliamentary electors were created by the 1832 Representation of the People Act and have been compiled annually since then. They list the individuals entitled to vote in parliamentary and local government elections. During the early 19th century only a small minority of the male population could vote and it was not until 1918 that women could vote. After 1928, all men and women over the age of 21 held the right to vote. Between 1889 and 1974, Glamorgan County Council created the registers.
