Administrative and biographical history: Colwyn Bay Borough Council was granted its Charter of Incorporation on 20 September 1934. The new borough was created out of Colwyn Bay (formerly Colwyn Bay and Colwyn) Urban District Council and the villages of Bryn-y-maen, Mochdre and Rhos-on-Sea, Denbighshire . The Council consisted of 28 Councillors from whom were elected the Mayor and seven Aldermen. The Borough was served by a number of officials including a Clerk, Treasurer, Medical Officer of Health, Sanitary and Public Health Inspectors, Rating Officer, Surveyor and Engineer. The Borough was abolished in 1974, becoming part of Colwyn Borough Council, Clwyd; it is now in Conwy County Borough.
