Administrative and biographical history: County Courts were established in 1846 to hear civil cases, and mainly heard cases at its monthly meetings for recovery of debts not exceeding £50. There were Courts in Denbigh, Llanrwst, Ruthin, and Wrexham in Denbighshire, and Corwen (Merionethshire). The Wrexham County Court heard a case concerning the Stansty estate, Wrexham.
Scope and content: Ruthin County Court records, 1871-1905; registers of plaints, 1881-1905; register of summons, 1890-1901; proceedings under the Tithe Act 1891, 1891-1902; cash books, 1871-1904; and index volume to bills of sale, [c. 1859]-[c. 1900]; and records relating to Wrexham County Court, including Stansty deeds and records of miscellaneous cases, 1774-1896.
