Administrative and biographical history: These papers were assembled by members of the Verity family, Bridgend, Glamorgan, and particularly Denis Verity, from a variety of sources. Many of the papers were used as a basis for historical research on the history of Bridgend and district.
Scope and content: Material relating to Reginald Harmar Cox, 1908-1926; notes on the life of James Ebenezer Bicheno (1785-1851); draft marriage settlement of Catherine Verity, 1842; miscellaneous photographs; Newcastle parish incumbent's cash books, 1903-1909; marriage settlements, correspondence and other documents relating to Hester Wilkins of Llanblethian, 1715-1747; miscellaneous papers relating to the Wilkins family, 1704-1968; Bridgend and Cowbridge Union abstract list of paupers, 1872; Glamorgan Militia (Neath Hundred), 1763; Bridgend Turnpike District report of committee, 1843; Aleppo Merchant papers, 1697-1698; miscellaneous historical notes and papers collected by Denis Verity, 1853-1983; miscellaneous photographs and postcards, 1860-1941; photographic prints of watercolour views of the Bridgend area; copies of maps of the Bridgend area, 1778-1842; and photocopies of miscellaneous material relating to the Society of Oddfellows, 1838-1886.

System of arrangement: Generally records have been listed according to original arrangement (according to subject).
Conditions governing access: For the Aleppo Merchant letters, transcripts will be offered in place of the original items. Copies of fragile items may be offered in order to reduce damage to originals.

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling information: A selection of records offered have been accepted and listed. Duplicate items, occasional journals and newspapers have been donated to local libraries. Poor quality duplicates have been destroyed.
