Name of creator(s): Edward Owen (1853-1943); Wilfred James Hemp (1882-1962).
Administrative and biographical history: Edward Owen (1853-1943) was a journalist, barrister and antiquary. In 1908, he became the first Secretary of the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales and Monmouthshire, which published An inventory of the ancient monuments in Wales and Monmouthshire: Vol. 2, County of Flint (1912). He was succeeded as Secretary, in 1928, by Wilfred J. Hemp (1882-1962), of Cricieth, Caernarfonshire.
Scope and content: Correspondence and papers of Edward Owen, -1912, relating to the Inventory of the County of Flint (1912), comprising material by A. N. Palmer and T. A. Glenn, and a draft text of the Inventory; and additional material by W. J. Hemp, [c. 1944].
